Silk plush top hats have not been readily made for around 25 years, the Silk Plush (traditionally called Hatters Plush) was last made commercially in France in the 1970ies. Silk Plush came in many different colours, most predominantly black. We have over a hundred antique silk top hats ready for you to try on at very reasonable prices.

We can reconform the hard-shelled antique toppers in our workshop to fit your head uniquely using our Conformateur. Fittings are by appointment, at our workshop in Ascot normally on weekday evenings and weekends, please call us on 01344 638 838 or 070 4040 1515 to arrange a convenient time.

If you are unable to make an appointment, it may be possible for us to visit you at your home or place of work (within the South East) alternatively if you are further afield or overseas, we have developed a process to measure you in the field, using a portable Hatters Curve & tape measure. When you send the measurements back to us, we will use them to work out your size and shape, and then create a hat block in the shape of your head. The block can then be used conform a hat to your specific measurements.
